Spoiler Boruto Chapter 85: Sasuke saves Boruto, swallowed by the Decapitating Serpent

In this Boruto Chapter 85, we will understand why Sasuke is swallowed by the Decapitating Serpent and witness the emotional encounter between Boruto and Sarada.

Chapter 84 witnessed Boruto reaching Code’s location, where he faced a new group of antagonists. Through this encounter, the manga reveals that those swallowed by the Decapitating Serpent eventually give rise to their own enlightened versions of the serpent. Along with this revelation, we also learn that Sasuke was swallowed by the Decapitating Serpent while trying to save Boruto.

Boruto confidently asserts that he has mastered the Uchiha style that Sasuke taught him. Sasuke agrees, acknowledging that over the past year, he has taught his apprentice most of his techniques and styles. However, Sasuke then states that he has nothing left to teach, leaving Boruto surprised and incredulous.

Although Sasuke asserts that he has nothing more to teach, it doesn’t mean Boruto won’t learn anything else. To Sasuke, Boruto is like a smaller version of Naruto and simultaneously a genius.

Both move forward and unexpectedly confront Code. From this detail, we learn that it was Sasuke who caused the scar on Code’s eye in previous chapters, not Boruto.

“However, no matter what, stay alive.”

“I’m entrusting Sarada to you, Boruto.” Afterward, Sasuke charges alone into the group of monsters and is swallowed by the Decapitating Serpent in front of Boruto’s astonished eyes.

 

The scene shifts to the Leaf Village, where Konohamaru and some other ninja discover Moegi Kazamatsuri swallowed by the Decapitating Serpent.

A completely different version of Moegi with Rinnegan eyes named Matsuri appears.

“Ino, Shika, Cho, and Sarutobi Konohamaru. Their desperation and anger are all that we can feel.” The Isshiki clone explains that although they are biologically one, only Matsuri can sense these emotions. He also adds that the purpose of absorbing Boruto and Kawaki for evolution remains unchanged.

All of them intend to swallow Naruto, but Eida mentions that absorbing him would bring no benefits as he is not an Otsutsuki. Matsuri states that she wants to absorb Sarutobi Konohamaru, and the Isshiki clone agrees that it’s a good idea.

Sasuke, in the form of the Decapitating Serpent, declares that his main target is Sarada Uchiha.

Amado talks about Boruto returning after three years. They also mention Boruto defending the Leaf Village from Code’s attack but still being pursued. Amado has added Akebi’s data to Kawaki’s restored Karma. Kawaki just needs to engrave “Karma” onto a new body, and the girl will return.

Amado discusses Kawaki, the one with “Karma,” whose body is a scientific ninja tool, but it’s unclear who and when modified his body. However, Amado recognizes that he himself clearly modified that body, with many signs indicating this. He also realizes that the special “Karma” he placed inside Kawaki is still there.

Finally, Amado talks about the conflict in his memories. With the existing “evidence,” the clear answer is that part of his memory has been overwritten. He concludes that memories are just vague illusions, and nothing surpasses the “evidence” of reality. Although he doesn’t know who did it, Amado asserts that what matters to him is the “Karma” for his daughter, and the one who possesses it is not Boruto but Kawaki.

The scene shifts to Sarada arguing with Sumire. Sarada says that even with clear evidence, if someone has a memory of an event, they often don’t doubt it. Specifically, despite having a family photo with Boruto, people still believe that Kawaki is the son of the Seventh Hokage, and no one questions that. People believe in their memories, regardless of available evidence.

Amid their conversation, Boruto suddenly appears from behind. Sarada, upon seeing him, rushes to embrace him in Sumire’s astonishment.

“Foolish Boruto. You’re too late.”

“Sorry. But I’m home now.”
